Ruturaj Gaikwad has not been able to do anything special with the bat so far in IPL 2024.

Former Team India cricketer Aakash Chopra believes that Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain Ruturaj Gaikwad needs to score runs in the IPL 2024 match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to reduce the pressure on him. Both teams will face each other on Monday, April 8 at Chepauk, Chennai.

Gaikwad, who has scored 88 runs in four innings at an average strike rate of 118.91 in the ongoing edition of the tournament, will be looking to perform well against KKR. In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Chopra selected Ruturaj Gaikwad as the first top performer for the match to be held on Monday.

Aakash Chopra Gave A Big Statement Regarding Ruturaj Gaikwad

He said, “What will Chennai have to do to stop Kolkata’s winning streak? First of all, Ruturaj Gaikwad needs to score runs. He is the first player I focus on. It’s been four matches, he’s definitely been batting well once or twice, scoring good runs, but not being able to convert them into big innings.”

The former India opener further said, “When you are in this phase of the season, where your team has won two and lost two, then you suddenly start feeling that the captain has to contribute, otherwise there will be pressure on the captain and maybe you are batting poorly because of captaincy. Secondly, as a captain, your decisions start to deteriorate.”

Let us tell you that Chennai Super Kings has played a total of four matches this season. Out of which they have won two and lost two and they are currently at fourth position in the points table with four points. After losing the last two matches, Chennai would like to make a comeback in the tournament by registering a win against Kolkata.
