Sunrisers Hyderabad

About the team:

Sunrisers Hyderabad, sometimes known as SunRisers Hyderabad or just SRH, is an Indian Premier League franchise cricket team headquartered in Hyderabad, Telangana (IPL).  Kalanithi Maran of the SUN Group owns the team, which was established in 2012 after the IPL disbanded the Deccan Chargers of Hyderabad.  Aiden Markram serves as the team’s captain, and Brian Lara is the team’s current coach.

In 2013, the club made its debut in the IPL. They advanced to the playoffs and ultimately took fourth place. In the 2016 IPL season, the Sunrisers won the championship after defeating the Royal Challengers Bangalore by an 8-run margin. Every year since 2016, the squad has advanced to the tournament’s play-off round. The team competed in the Indian Premier League in 2018, but fell to Chennai Super Kings in the championship game. The group is regarded as one of the top bowling teams and is frequently praised for its capacity to hold down low totals. David Warner, who has three Orange Cap victories in 2015, 2017, and 2019, is the team’s leading run scorer.  The most successful wicket-taker is Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who has won the Purple Cap twice, in 2016 and 2017. According to Brand Finance, the COVID-19 epidemic had an effect on the Sunrisers Hyderabad’s brand value, which dropped by 4% to US$57.4 million in 2020 as the IPL’s overall brand value fell to US$4.4 billion.

Home ground

The Sunrisers Hyderabad call the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium their home field. It is the main cricket venue in Hyderabad, Telangana state, India. The Hyderabad Cricket Association is the owner (HCA). It is situated in Uppal’s eastern suburb and can accommodate 55,000 people.

The 40,000-seat Dr. Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, was chosen as Sunrisers Hyderabad’s secondary home field in 2015, and the team played its first three home matches there that year.

The season opening and championship game were held at Sunrisers Hyderabad’s stadium in 2017, while they were the reigning IPL champions. SRH decided to hold their home games at their main home field.

The IPL final was moved from Chennai’s M. A. Chidambaram Stadium to Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium during the 2019 season after the TNCA was unable to obtain permission to unlock three locked stands for the game.
